FAST (faculty and students together) Fund RIC, a member of the national Believe in Students network, is an emergency-aid fund for students run by RIC faculty members. It is not institutionally funded and therefore any aid that goes to students does not count against their financial aid awards. FAST Fund RIC is designed to act quickly in response to students’ financial needs, whether that be for a car repair, food, help with rent, an unexpected bill that blows up a student’s budget, or whatever else might get in the way of a student’s continuing success at RIC. The FAST Fund is on a smaller scale than major institutional financial aid awards, and is not meant to replace them, but instead to fill unexpected, emergency gaps in students’ budgets.
